Senator Demint And The New CVC

The new Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) opened this week. After six
years of planning the building, it is an abomination. Senator Jim
Demint has called the new CVC godless and left leaning. Please sign
me up as one of the growing number of Jim DeMint fans.
To some, this may seem like a trivial matter, but it is not.
This is representative of the Left’s effort to gut our country of
its heritage, culture and identity. For generations, conservatives
have ignored these proxy wars for the heart and soul of our
country. While conservatives balked, liberals racked up victory
after victory and changed the identity of this country.
Some will dismiss this because it is only a visitors’ center.
Some will insist that the political front is the only front. Some
will say the culture war is overstated and that we must get back to
taxes and spending. Then those people will turn around and become
agitated that their message of federalism, limited government, and
individual liberty is not resonating with a new generation of
voters and wonder why. The inability to link the former with the
latter is becoming a foolish mistake. It is a foolish mistake
because we repeat it over and over again.
The new generation of voters and the new immigrant classes are
part of a new global vision. They are statist, collectivist,
progressive, and humanistic in nature and mostly ignorant - who
cares what a bunch of dead, old, racist, sexist, homophobic white
guys think anyway. That stuff happened like a million years ago or
something. We got Obama now. The government is going to save us

How did we become so ignorant. It was orchestrated. It was
orchestrated by the same people who planned the new CVC. The same
people who dared cobble this nonsense onto the visitors’ entrance
of our nation’s Capitol:
We have built no temple but the Capitol. We consult no common
oracle but the Constitution
The whole spectacle apparently exalts the Federal government.
There is absolutely no reference to God whatsoever. Senator Demint
asked that a humble “In God We Trust” be placed somewhere in the
new CVC, but his request was ignored. This is not a religious
matter. This is a matter of culture, history and truth. As Senator
DeMint stated:
“The current CVC displays are left-leaning and in some cases
distort our true history. Exhibits portray the federal government
as the fulfillment of human ambition and the answer to all of
society’s problems. This is a clear departure from acknowledging
that Americans’ rights ‘are endowed by their Creator’ and stem from
‘a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence.’
He went on further to state:
“The fundamental principles of the freedom we enjoy in this
country stem from our Founding Fathers’ beliefs in a higher power,
beliefs put forth in the Declaration of Independence and manifest
throughout our Constitution. If we cease to acknowledge this fact,
we may cease to enjoy some of the freedoms we take for granted. We
must not censor historical references to God for the sake of
political correctness. And we must truthfully represent the limited
form of government the Constitution lays out so that our
‘government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall
not perish from the earth.’ So help us God.”
Thank you Senator DeMint. Thank you for not ceding the culture
war and fighting for our country.
